Do you want your postcard printing designs to reach a truly professional level? Well it is very easy to change your personal postcards to something more mainstream and appropriate for postcard printing. From postcard templates to personal brands we will teach you how to achieve this using a few simple techniques. In this article, I will share with you four simple strategies to make your postcards look more professional.

Download a professional template
One great and very easy technique to make a postcard design look professional is simply to download a professional postcard template. With this technique, you can basically adopt a professional design template, with all the work mostly done for you. You just acquire the template by buying it, or by downloading it for free if it is available. You can just load up the postcard template design in your publishing software and input all that you need for the postcard details. Within minutes you should have a professional looking design with your specifications.

Improve and enhance your photographs digitally
Another way to improve the looks of your postcards and make them appear more professional is to enhance your postcard photographs digitally. One of the very clear indicators of an amateur postcard is its image. Usually people just shoot and print with their personal postcards. Professionals usually edit images a bit to make things look more colorful, or to adjust elements, add in filters so that they can convey a different emotion or feel of the postcard photograph. So why don’t you try it out as well. It is as simple as opening something like Adobe Photoshop or even Gimp and editing your photos slightly for a professional effect.

Print your postcards professionally
Of course, for a real and professional finish, you must always print your custom postcards using professional printers. Professional postcard printing services will always produce very high quality postcards that can match the common postcards that you see out there for sale. They know what they are doing and they know the various paper stocks and paper coating settings to make a postcard look great. Also, they have the best machines in the business which pales in comparison to any home printer. So if you really want a professional looking postcard, print your postcards professionally. It is easy to find some of their services online.

Add a professional looking logo
Finally, do not forget to “brand” your work. Most professionals are proud of their work and add in a personal and professional looking logo in the design. This marks the postcard with a personal and perhaps professional guarantee in the message. It impresses people, making it more than just the usual personal postcards. So make sure you design one and make your mark on the postcard.

So, if you just try these four tips out, I promise you that your personal color postcards will always look professional in the eyes of your readers. It just takes some quality layouts, some good pictures and a professional finish. It is really easy if you just put some effort into it.

When people produce printed catalogs, they put a lot of strange things in their cover. However, there are a few very standard or even fundamental elements in catalog covers that make catalog a decent one for people to see. This kind of catalog printing takes into account the important features that make the catalog what it is and displays it for people to see in the cover. So if you do not know what you should put into your cover for catalog printing here are the five major elements that must always be there.

1. Premiere products
The most important thing that you can put into the cover of your color catalogs is your premiere product. Your premiere product is basically your flagship or the product that is most expensive and epitomizes your best talent in manufacturing or production. These are your front “models” that shows the best of the best of what you have. You must always show these things to people since they are the most impressive that you have got. For most catalog covers it is best to have at least one of your premiere products on there to encourage people to see and buy.

2. Page teasers
Another important thing to put into the catalog cover are small texts or page teasers that lead people way from the cover to a specific page within the catalog. Teasers are a good way to advertise more content in a catalog so that people know what more to expect besides the stuff in the cover. It adds content to the catalog cover making it fuller and more complete.

3. Power words
Power words also play a big role in catalog covers. Words like “Sale”, “Discount”, “Rebate” and “zero percent interest” are all very great power words that people respond to immediately. Many catalogs get picked up just because some of these power words are printed in its cover. So if you still have space, do not forget to place power words in your catalog cover to make it better and more successful.

4. Helpful information and tips
Also as a service to your readers, never forget to post pages for helpful information and tips in the cover. People like learning things even from catalogs and magazines. Having a small teaser about tutorials in your catalogs is a great way to attract people to read the brochure. Since it is very useful people might even decide to keep the brochure indefinitely so that the catalog can be referenced in future times. That is why you must not forget to advertise your other more useful content in the cover as well. People will more likely read your catalogs because of it.

5. The lifestyle
Finally, all catalog covers must always project a lifestyle. A lifestyle is basically your marketing angle for your products. Lifestyles basically try to impress people and encourage them to buy products so that they can live that certain lifestyle as well. This is done through proper layouts and designs for your catalog cover. You can try to be cool, sophisticated, techie, nerdy, sporty and all other lifestyles in the spectrum. This must always appear in your cover so that you can keep to the theme of your marketing strategy efficiently.

So do not forget to always have these five elements present in your catalog cover. This should make the cover better and more complete.

A public relations brochure is definitely much more that the usual things you create in brochure printing. They are not the usual sales dribble that comes out of brochure printers and you should not treat them as such. They are very goal oriented brochures that are tasked to improve the reputation of the company and not just it sales figures. That goal for brochure printing is very lofty indeed and you should know well the correct strategies that you need to use to achieve that for your PR brochures.

If you have no clue as to what to do, you need not worry. This article will give you a few very useful tips on how to develop a good PR brochure. Just read through each item carefully and take note of them. Hopefully by the end of the list, you should be ready to create your own color brochures for public relations.

Adopt a distinct approach. The first strategy to develop a good PR brochure is to adopt a distinct approach in your brochures. If you want to look like an authority in the industry then drive your theme and content to appear as such. If you want to be the firm that works the fastest then you have to emphasize that in your design. If you want to be the happy and fun company then project that in your message. As long as these approaches are very different from your rivals then your PR brochure can stand out uniquely in the sea of other brochures and hopefully can be very memorable to everyone’s eyes.

Use your firm’s identifiable themes. Also, since you are making a public relations brochure, it is only logical to use your firm’s identifiable themes. This basically involves using the company color themes, design elements and standard layouts. Everything and anything that is uniquely tied to your firm must be used. By doing this, you integrate the personality of the firm in the brochure design itself making it easily distinguishable as a company brochure. This makes it easier for the brochure to be considered as part of the whole identity that is your firm.

Establish and project your corporate philosophy. Your PR brochures are the vehicles to promote the company corporate philosophy. All firms must always have a stated corporate philosophy that shows the public that it is a contributor to the community. Proper public relation guidelines require this so that you can establish a good reputation in the communities you are working to protect the future investments and products in them. So make sure that your philosophy stands out in your PR brochures through its text content and even the pictures.

Write content that is useful for readers. Speaking of content, the text in your PR brochures should be as useful to your readers as they are useful to you. No one likes a self serving brochure that thinks itself as self important. That is why your content must always relate to readers, and it should tell them why it is important to know about your firm and why the company is beneficial to the public. This gives the PR brochure a more human element in its design making the message more welcome to the casual reader.

Impress with images and iconography. Of course a proper PR brochure must also be built to impress. By using superb quality images, and top notch iconography or graphics in the brochure you can impress upon people the skill and reputation of your firm. Better looking images and brochure designs are always a mark of a truly professional firm that can be trusted.

Use state of the art materials. Lastly, it is also important to use the best state of the art materials in brochure printing. Since you are presenting your brochures to the public, it is always recommended to show your best face. No one really responds to cheap looking PR brochures. It must always look the best that it can be to make the designs shine.

Just follow those items above and your public relations brochures should come out very effective and good looking. As long as you keep these traits well for all your brochures, all your public relations goals can be achieved.

Online customers can be the most difficult people to please. And you cannot do anything about it. Because the customer is ALWAYS right. Even if they are wrong, they are still always right.

If you have had enough of dealing with these kinds of customers, there are 5 features you can have in your website that are sure to make your customers take their business somewhere else.

1. The Long and Winding Flash.

Flash equals fast. NOT.

In the internet world, flash means taking forever to load. Wasting some minutes of your time to see the presentation. People will still get on with their lives even if they do not see flashes on websites.

There is also the fact that putting on a cheesy intro, spinning circles and moving lines is NOT an effective marketing tactic. Online people dislike that. So does the search engines.

2. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Tags.

Blink. Blink. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. It is the tags. They are blinking!

And the purpose is what? Make people have their eyes checked? Or try to be cute in a not-so-cute fashion?

Rethink your purpose in using blinking tags. Because believe it or not, there is no real useful purpose for those tags.

3. Have Real Long Sentences With No Comma Period And Not Even Separated In Lines Or Paragraphs That End Up Not Making Any Sense At All When The Intent Is To Make Readers Understand.

Whew! Breathe! Breathe!

Not only are long sentences hard to understand, it also is boring to read. The minute your readers see these kinds of sentences, they probably could not help but stifle a yawn. Their eyes will get heavy and they will be getting sleepy…sleepy…zzzz…

Your website has just been made a certified sleep booster. Better than drinking milk, sleeping pills or counting sheep.

4. Pop Goes The Pop Up.

Two words: Very Irritating.

Pop up upon entering and pop up when leaving the website is a customer buster. Your customers get it! You have lots of ads you need them to see. Or displays you created yourself.

What they do not get is why you have to flaunt them every time they click on a link or run their mouse over a word or phrase. They still do not get it.

5. The Movie-Inspired Soundtrack.

Beethoven, Rock, Love Song or Heavy Metal? None of the above.

This is your website. Not Youtube or some fancy karaoke website. Your readers can forgive your soundtrack if your business is related to music. If it is not, then do not bother.

If people wanted to hear music, they will tune in their radios or listen to their play list. They definitely do not want to hear any of it in your website. Nice music or not.

Letting customers know that you do not want to do business with them is easier than you think. All you have to do is put some of these features in your website and say goodbye to irritating customers forever.

Online printing services are a dime a dozen these days and it is getting hard to identify a good online printer amidst the sea of bad ones. It takes some work and a little determination but it is still indeed possible to find good online printing services. You just need to do a few proper steps in finding them.

1. Identify the popular printers – For starters, you may want to identify the popular online printers first. While popularity is not necessarily, a determinant of a good printer it is a good measure of where to find them. When an online printing service is popular, as determined by its page rank, this means that many people are linking to it and talking about it. Therefore, it must be at least good enough to be that popular. That is why you can narrow down your search for a good online printer by identifying 5 to 10 of the most popular printers that cater to the prints that you want to produce.

2. Compare quotation prices – Afterwards, once you identify the popular ones you need to compare them. Have one specific order setup in mind with a fixed number of prints and printing options. Get quotations for the exact same order across all the popular online printers that you identified. More often than not, you will discover that there are cheaper online printers when compared with each other. This should at least get you to drop the printers with the most expensive printing quotations.

3. Review possible options – Next, after narrowing down your search to the cheaper printers, you must also see if the printer has the ability to print using a myriad of different options. The more features and printing options an online printer has, the better it is. This also may also open up customization options for your prints, which might be handy in the long run.

4. Look for good packages and discounts – Furthermore, try to see if there are printing packages and discounts in certain online printers. Good online printers will always want to attract people with printing packages that offer savings, especially when printing in bulk.

5. Research for opinions – Of course, do not forget to listen other people’s opinions as well. You may ask your family, friends and colleagues for their experiences with online printers. Since these opinions come from true experiences, you might get good insights in choosing the printer for you.

6. Have samples printed – Finally, if you can try to ask if the printer can give you a sample print of your material. Look at the finished product and see if the quality is good. This should be your final step in judging online printers, since the quality of their work is the crucial thing that determines the look of your prints.

Great! Just follow those six steps and you will never go wrong with finding a good online printer. Good Luck!

Are you regularly updating your company letterheads? If not, then you are in big trouble. It is always a good practice to invest in letterhead printing every so often so that your paperwork will always look new and up to date. If you do not do this on a regular basis your paperwork (and hence your company as well) will look old and uncompetitive. As a small guide to you, below are a few suggestions of when you should update your letterheads.

Regular Annual updates
Of course, as a standard practice, you should have regular annual updates for your letterheads. A yearly update is a great way to just keep your letterhead designs in line with the prevailing views and tastes at the time. Culture and the business environment can change quickly and a yearly update is a good way to organize your update schedule to adapt to those changes.

Contact information changes
Besides a regular schedule, you can also set a rule for yourself to invest in a new batch of letterhead printing if important contact information changes. For example, if the email address of the company or its website URL changes, it is always important to update all materials with contact information including of course your letterheads. Doing this thing lessens the chances of people mistakenly contacting the old details letting you lose business opportunities.

Logo change and improvement
Also, it is always inevitable that design changes in the company motif or logo can happen. When this does occur, do not forget to update your letterheads as well. You do not want to continue printing the old logo since the new logo might be part of a whole new revamp of the company image. The logo is very important since it is how your company is identified. It carries with it the pride and respect of the company so it is always a must to have the newest and improved rendition of it printed in your letterheads.

Printing opportunities
Of course, you can also take advantage of printing letterheads when there are certain opportunities. Some printing companies out there may offer sudden discounts in printing especially when they have only a few orders for a significantly long duration. When this happens do not be afraid to swoop in to print your letterheads. Even though you may have several stocks of notepads left, buying those cheap notepads now is a nice investment since you will buy those things anyway. Why not get them now at a discount right?

Public relation issues
Finally, if you had a big public relations incident where the reputation of your company has been tarnished, it might be a good idea to change the letterhead design so that people would not be immediately turned off by what it represents. Business is all about image, so if you lose that image, you must mitigate the effects if you can by adjusting your logo and letterheads so that they still look respectable and responsible.

So keep those situations in mind. They are a great guide on the proper timing of letterhead updates.

Are you getting slow responses in your designs for brochure printing? Well, there are many factors that can make custom brochures boring. While there is no one solution to prevent this, there are a few important techniques that you can adopt to make sure you minimize the chances of being boring. Below are five strategies that usually work.

1. Veer away from common template layouts – The best strategy that I usually encounter is the move to veer away from common templates. This means that you can leave the common and boring trifold brochure template behind in favor of more interesting template layouts. You can try using other kinds of folds like French folds, accordion folds or even gate folds. This small shift in layout can be a big thing as people will be easily attracted to unusual brochure folds like this.

2. Review your contemporaries and distinguish yourself – Next, you can also avoid being boring by directly designing your brochures so that they look original and considerably different and distinct from other brochures. Do this by reviewing the other brochures in the market and simply designing something that is not them. By making your brochure distinctively different you can have that original and novelty value that is hardly boring for most people when compared to other brochures.

3. Do not be afraid to try new untested designs – Also, one of the barriers why people end up making a boring brochure is fear about designs. Most want to play it safe and go for “tried and tested” concepts. However, in most circumstances these designs are already very ineffective and boring. To really make a mark in your brochures and avoid being boring like that, you need to risk it and try new untested designs. Why not try using abstract art, or going for an exotic theme in your brochures? Maybe you can try printing differently shaped brochures to make things interesting? You will be surprised at people’s positive reactions when they do see a brochure that is trying to innovate and test new design concepts. It is really enough to make your brochures look exciting, eliminating any kind of boring feature in them.

4. Make use of both images and text effectively – Another great way to avoid being boring with your brochures is to use the text and images effectively and in tandem with each other. Lots of people think that using lots of images can make brochures immune to being boring. However, if your images are not supported by appropriate text, people may not be able to get the whole point of the images effectively. With the creative use of images with inspiring text content, people can be totally engaged and interested in your brochure pictures. This makes your images more effective, entertaining people more and decreasing the risk of your brochures getting boring.

5. Exploit color differences – Finally, you may want to try printing in a very different and interesting color with your brochures. While most people might be printing white brochures or light colored ones, rarely will you see brochures in black or deep red. However, these very vibrant and unusual brochure colors can be the key to making them very interesting and memorable to your reader’s eyes. Everyone will notice that one and only batch of red or black brochures in the sea of white and light colored ones. So it pays to exploit color differences to prevent your brochures from looking boring.

If Transformers can have a sequel, so can the article of the same title.

Three bad moves were mentioned in the first article about internet marketing and how it had caused marketers to fall. Below are four more additional moves that should be avoided.

4. Not updating the web pages.

Web pages are crucial to how the business will turn out. It is basically what the whole website is all about. This is especially vital if you have loyal followers already. They probably would not want to read old news.

Updating your site is like killing two birds with one stone. Regular web page update will not only satisfy your customers, it will also score you points with the search engines. Search engines love updated websites. You may not be aware of it but this is one of the factors they consider when crawling websites.

5. Not providing working links.

Consider the fact that people are already interested in your business and they are now checking your website out. These people will not be satisfied with the home page. Chances are, they will click on the links and try to visit your inner pages as well.

One non-working link and you can say goodbye to future business dealings with your customer. Put yourself in their position and you would do the same. Check everyday, if possible, if all your links are working. It would be better if you can assign someone on site maintenance to make sure everything is in order.

6. No site map.

Site maps are very important. It makes navigating your site a lot easier and faster. Most visitors that come into websites check for site maps first. They want to get to the page they need as fast as possible. It is your duty to provide this for them.

Site maps are also one of the requirements in web ranking. Some search engines turn down websites that do not have site maps. The site map does not have to have great designs or graphics. As long as it is easy to read, faster to navigate then it will just be as effective.

7. No contact form or page.

The phrase says it all. Your customers need to get in touch with you. And they should do that using your website. Do no assume that all customers will be satisfied with what they read on your pages. Assume that most of them may get confused or want to inquire about something. Hence, the contact page.

All relevant information should be supplied in the contact page. There should be a working phone number, email and the right person to get in touch. Aside from that, a form should be placed where customers can put their inquiry along with relevant information about them. All queries should be treated as important and be attended to swiftly.

Once again, time to roll out of the fallen category. If you want to rule the internet marketing universe, then learn from the fallen ones and avoid being one of them.

Desperate times. But all you can read about are people buying new mansions, fast cars and expanding their businesses. These are what internet marketers are doing in these hard times.

You are probably wallowing in misery and thinking “lucky bastards”, or “they are probably doing something sneaky”…Self-pity will not get you anywhere. Hating will also not get you any closer to where they are now.

Hold off all your ranting for a minute and start learning how the experts do it. Maybe this is the life-changing opportunity you have been waiting for.

How can internet marketers make money despite the hard times?

1. By focusing on a niche.

Internet marketing is not about the number of websites and business you have. It is about a specific market. Your niche market. You can start with one niche, make plans on how you can best market that niche and if it is what people are in need of at the moment. You can set aside one or two of your business that seem to be declining.

It will also save you a lot of time, money and effort if you stick to your marketing plan. Be more visible in your market. Join social networking. Prepare leads that are directly related to your market. Continue to follow up. The essence is to get your business out to the millions of people with their specific needs.

2. By ranking high in the search engines.

Your website should have a place in the top searches so visitors will find you easily. You can do this by optimizing your website. Make use of different site optimization strategies. You have the option of setting aside a small budget for the paid methods. Or take advantage of free tools and websites.

Update your site regularly. Have informational contents, site maps and easy to navigate pages. These are just some of the important factors that search engines are looking for when crawling websites. Tracking tools online are also helpful in monitoring your website performance.

3. By converting visitors into sales.

This is the job for your website. The main page of your website will determine if visitors will want to check out your other pages. Make that page emotionally tuned or catchy enough for you purpose to be heard. That is, for people to choose your business over your competitors.

Remember that people are busy people. Do away with large images or flashes that take time to load. Tell people about what your business is about right away. And also make sure your pages are working. You would not want to lose potential customers just because one of your web pages does not work.

Three easy steps are all it will take for you to be in league with the big spenders. Enough about recession. Stop blaming the leaders and economy. Harsh times can still be converted to good times.

So instead of pitying yourself, why not focus on one goal and one goal only: Money, money and more money.

Written by Tracy Jerry

As 2009 draws to a dramatic finish, it’s time for small businesses to begin ramping up for a bold new year full of both new opportunities and risks. And, if you’re only thinking about making your standard New Year’s Resolution to lose weight, be healthy, and stop some form of bad habit, then maybe it’s time to get your head focused more on the business side of things.

If you’re not ready to hit the ground running January 1, 2010, you are already behind your competitors. In these last two weeks of December, you need to sit down, evaluate where you went wrong in 2009 and explore how you are going to not only avoid those mistakes, but turn them into profit making decisions.

Take out your marketing plan for 2009 and see what changes you can make this year. What’s that you say? You don’t have an official marketing plan? How on earth do you have a marketing budget if you don’t know where you are going to spend it?! And if you don’t have a marketing budget, then you need to sit down right now and get things in order before you drink another glass of eggnog.

Every month, you should know exactly what you are going to do to help improve your business. What marketing project are you working on in January? How are you going to evaluate your success? These are all questions that need to be answered as you put together your marketing plan for 2010.

Ideally, you should have a 12 -month marketing plan set up from day 1 of the New Year, but if this seems like an impossible feat, then try to plan just the next 6 months or even just three months. Designate certain days during the year where you meet with your senior officers and review the plan, report the success, and see if your marketing plan needs adjustments. Put this date on your calendar. I mean it. Mine is already scheduled for May 17, but then I had my marketing plan done last month.

If you have trouble coming up with ideas or putting anything down on paper, then maybe the first step you need to take is to work with a professional to put a marketing plan together. There are many marketing professionals who can offer their consulting services to you and help you get an official report. Invite this professional to your check up meeting, and have them help you evaluate how each project rated in terms of successes and failures.

You can even get members of your staff involved. Have a meeting and discuss ways in which you can market your business. Do you have a sales team? Maybe new sales materials or brochures can be designed. Maybe your website needs a fresh new look. There are many sites that offer extremely affordable ways to get professional graphic and website design done. An example is www.prova.fm. This site lets the business owner open a project and multiple designers from around the world will submit actual design work for your approval. You simply choose the one you like the most.

Or maybe you could use a marketing writer to put some sizzle in your sales letters. Have you thought about internet marketing? How about print advertisements? Or radio ads?

There are so many ways in which you can effectively test your marketing, but you need to first have a plan before you run off and spend money with no way to measure your success. That’s where that marketing plan is going to come in handy! So if you make one New Year’s Resolution this year, do your business a favor and resolve to get that marketing plan written and implemented for 2010.

Real Simple Syndication. Better known as RSS. You will find this on every website.

What is this button for anyway? What is the big deal about RSS?

RSS is the content delivery medium. It converts your web pages to text so the search engine robots can easily index and list websites. RSS is basically visibility and getting your website out there for everyone to see.

Not getting the whole picture yet?

Here are some major reasons why you need RSS on your site.

Backlinks.

Site ranking is dependent on backlinks. How would your site be ranked if it were not for your links visibility? How would people find you?

Getting backlinks takes effort and time. Let us assume you do not have these two. Using RSS, your content will be visible to other important websites. Most of the time, these sites are already crawled regularly by the search engines. Once your site is listed in them, then it will be crawled too.

Not much effort if you think about it. RSS is just like marketing via word of mouth. When you established yourself in the content field, then more and more people will know who you are and what your business is about.

Syndication.

Instead of trying to find visitors to go to your website, you can actually share your contents to the numerous websites that have people coming every second and every minute. This is RSS syndication at work, ladies and gentleman.

By submitting your RSS feed to directories, you are assured that other websites will pick your contents up. People are online to get information, answers to their needs and even avail of products and services. You would want your site to be visible enough so you will appear on the search results.

RSS has been used even before social networking sites were created. Even before Twitter became a hit. RSS is still chosen by internet savvy individuals because it is know they can distribute their contents without have to exert too much effort to do that.

Easy Access.

When you have a RSS feed, readers only need the RSS reader to gain access to your content, from anywhere and every time they want to. Your site will be delivered directly to their computer.

There are some users that set up their RSS like how they use their email. Once new contents are published, they get notifications about it. No more browsing required. The content is delivered as would any email message.

These are users that have specific needs. So the contents they get are targeted to provide information for that need. Chances are, they are already in that “ready to choose” stage. And the first few websites they find will be their choice.

Do you already know how important RSS feeds are? See for yourself. Go visit some websites and look for that RSS button. You will see that majority of them have RSS.

Does your website have RSS? Or are you one of those left out of this time-tested marketing tool?

Be warned, many people commit mistakes in poster printing, especially if it is their first time. It is only natural of course to make mistakes, but it is a good idea to be forewarned as to what the most common mistakes are. The more you know early on about the wrong kind poster printing, the fewer mistakes you will commit when it is time to send those designs to the poster company. So, for your reference, below are the worst printing mistakes people commit in poster printing.

The wrong paper
The poster paper is an important property of color posters that some people just ignore. They do not know that the poster paper directly relates to their posters durability and endurance against weathering factors. Choose the wrong kind of paper and your posters will deteriorate and tear easily within a few days, to the detriment of your poster printing campaign. So if you are planning on using outdoor posters, or posters for public viewing, it is best to choose the right paper that is tough and resistant.

The wrong size
Size also matters in printing posters. Choose the wrong size and you will not be able to spread your message easily. Many people commit the common mistake of printing posters that are just too small. They may look alright once you print them, but when you post them in public, usually it is just too small for all people to see. The technique though in deciding the correct size, is simply by observing what size posters usually are in a location. With that as your guideline you can try to match or at least enlarge your own posters a bit for maximum impact for those locations.

The wrong color
Many people also print their posters with the wrong color style. Some, to save money, only use black and white posters, or spot colors to only a few areas of the design. This is not really recommended since a poster is a very visual medium. Full color is really the only way to make a poster work. Otherwise, it will always look simple and ineffective.

The wrong printer
Next, the great big mistake that some people do is to print with the wrong poster company or printer. Some printers are better than others and if you do not do your homework correctly, you might get stuck with a printer that has almost no special printing skills, with no eye for quality. That is why it is important to research and analyze a printing company before you really hire them to do work.

The wrong price
Finally, the worst mistake of all is if you pay for a color poster with a wrong and expensive price. The price of printing posters should be well affordable to most people and businesses. Paying the wrong price is just uneconomical and of course unfair for most people. Try to compare all current poster printing prices across printers by looking at online prices. This should give you a nice idea of the prevailing printing prices and the firms that offer the best affordable price.

So there you have it. The common mistakes in poster printing and some suggestions on how to avoid them. Hopefully you will not be those people who waste money and time with the wrong kind of poster printing.

In addition to the design and graphic images in your catalog printing, one of the visual tools to help you be more effective in attracting your target clients to your custom and cheap catalogs are your fonts. The typeface you choose to convey your message in provides the opportunity for you to encourage and guide your readers to the action you expect from them.

From messages carved on stones to Guttenberg’s letterpress, history has provided a colorful rendition of how the fonts can equip you to convince the readers to your way of thinking. It can be one of your powerful marketing tools to help you direct your target clients to a particular action or behavior. Your fonts can be a factor that can make or break your business.

Today, in any marketing form, be it catalog printing, cheap catalogs or booklet and brochure printing, your font is very important in the kind of response you get from your recipients. Not only does your font help your marketing collateral message be readable, but it also provides a means for you to do it in the most creative way.

Here are a few considerations that you have to know so you can develop good typography in your marketing tool such as your catalog printing:

1. Readability

In addition to getting your message across in the fastest way possible, your message should first be readable before you could even say anything. The main objective is to make your audience understand your message. You can only do that if your message can be read by your target clients. It’s that simple. Any marketer worth his salt knows that in order for you to be able to bring out your message clearly, you need to write it in the most readable way. Don’t use fancy fonts that only confuse and clutter your copy. Make sure that your message is emphasized first before you have anything to do with the design.

2. Tone

It’s true. Your font has a voice that sets the tone of your overall appearance. Each stroke, dent and arch has a tonal quality to it that you need to consider in order for you to convey the most effective message. By considering the tone features of your chosen font, you’ll more than likely get a good chance of convincing your target clients to your ideas.

3. Function and Creativity

Finally, you need to consider both if you want your copy to be effective communicators of your message. There is such a thing as a conflict of interest between function and creativity. Would you rather go bold and creative but risk burying your offer in the design? Or would you go staid and boring just so you can properly get your message across to your target audience? You need to strike a balance between these two factors so you can have the most readable and convincing message in the market.

Just like your booklet printing, newsletters are powerful tools for marketing because more than promoting your business, these collaterals provide relevant and valuable information that many consumers love. Print booklets for one can give your business an image of expertise especially if you find yourself in a guru position where people often go to your collaterals to find answers to certain issues and concerns they have.

In addition to the writing pieces you have in your newsletters, the frequency and consistency of your distribution is also one important factor why newsletter printing is so effective. Repeating your message makes for a recognized and remembered ad. As they say, out of mind, out of sight. So in order for you to be remembered, you have to have your target clients see or hear from you on a regular basis.

There are nevertheless certain limits to how frequent you would want to be when it comes to marketing to your target audience. There is such a thing as going overboard and overdoing it. Repetition may be a powerful marketing strategy; but it can also provide the opposite result. Making the habit of constantly repeating yourself can backfire and make it impossible for you to make a sale.

Alternatively, marketing through your newsletter is also about understanding that your collateral is more than a means for you to share information and your expertise. It is first and foremost, a marketing tool which you should be able to use to sell your products and services. Hence, your marketing collaterals, just like your newsletters or booklet printing, should be able to create a connection with your target readers utilizing your words to build your relationships.

That means that you have to keep your target clients interested whenever you print your marketing collaterals. You have to attract as well as keep your target clients occupied with your message so they will not forget about you right after reading your copy. As a marketing tool, you would do well to remember that your collaterals are marketing tools so you should make your copy interesting so as to involve your readers in a way that other advertisements have a hard time doing.

Bear in mind that even before you could make a sale, you need to attract and pique their curiosity first. Get them interested in you. And when they do get that you care about them, then that is the time that you will see the profits coming in.

When it comes to planning a successful adverting campaign return on investment is everything. Getting a good positive response is what it’s all about, and it is vital for business owners and advertising directors to do whatever they can to get the attention of their potential customers. These days people are inundated with so much marketing – from billboards and radio ads to banner ads decorating their favorite websites – that many of them have learned to simply tune out those pitches. Cutting through the clutter and getting the attention of would be customers is harder than ever before, and more important than it ever was.

With this in mind, it is important for business owners to explore all the advertising avenues at their disposal. From radio and television to newspapers and magazines, there are plenty of places to get the word out. Even so, few advertising venues can compete with the power of direct mail marketing. Unlike so many forms of advertising, direct mail makes an instant impact. Businesses who can successfully harness the power of direct mail can enjoy an excellent return on their investment – the key is to tailor the message to the market and choose the recipients with care.

Simply blanketing the community at large with advertising pitches is most assuredly not the way to go about a direct mail marketing campaign. In most cases mailing and printing costs will make this type of wholesale approach unworkable, and generally speaking these types of blanket campaigns will not produce an acceptable ROI.

For most businesses the best return on investment will be achieved with a more targeted approach to direct mail advertising. Mailing lists and list brokerages make it easy for business owners and advertising executives to choose those recipients who are most apt to respond to their message. For instance, a new pet supply company may want to target their mailings to a list of pet owners, while a home improvement company may want to target those who have recently purchased a home.

Local businesses may also want to target those who are new in town, and lists of recent movers is a great way to target that special group. Those who have recently moved to a particular community are likely to be on the lookout for all manner of local services, from dry cleaning and laundry services to grocery stores and day care centers. Targeting direct mail campaigns to that niche is a great way to build awareness while serving and important need. And in many cases such a tightly targeted campaign may provide the best ROI of all.

For all major printed catalogs, there are six major areas that you must focus your attention on. In professional catalog printing, these areas constitute the vital elements that make a catalog effective and complete. If you do not know about these areas of concern yet, then you are reading the right article. In this guide, I have listed down the important areas below and how they matter. Hopefully this should guide you on where to focus your efforts on to make your catalog printing better.

1. Artwork and Images
If you have seen a lot of catalogs over the years, you should probably have realized by now that a big bulk of catalog design is about artwork and images. Color catalogs have a lot of product images and supplementary graphics to make the whole catalog work. If it does not have images, it basically will not work as a catalog. So it is vitally important for you to think clearly and plan out all your images for your catalogs. If possible try hiring a professional photographer to do all the shots, and a graphic artist to make the graphics. Delegating the graphic work can really improve their quality since the artists can really focus on making them look good.

2. Articles and Description
Another vital component of catalogs is of course the text content itself. This are made up of the specific product descriptions and the small articles about your catalogs. While this may sound like a mundane part of the catalog, this is where most of the specific information that readers need are located. So it is also important that you focus on making these descriptions correctly. You can try hiring a freelance writer to do this for you so that everything comes out correctly and professionally.

3. Layout and Themes
Next of course we have the layout and themes. This is basically how the artwork and images, plus the text come together. For the most part, this is where editors really focus their attention on. Catalog designers usually try to think of great layouts and themes to make readers more interested and engaged with the catalog. If you are the head of the project for your catalogs, this is where your primary efforts should be focused on. Try to think of something unique and functional when you are doing this.

4. Materials and Printing
When all the design elements have come into place, you should then worry about the materials and printing of the catalogs. This entails choosing the catalog paper stock as well as the coatings and ink choices for the printing itself. This is may sound like a minor part in catalog printing, but it has a great effect on the overall look and feel of the whole catalog. This decides if the paper shines, or if the ink colors are good enough. So try to make this aspect of catalog printing part of your main focus as well.

5. Review and Analysis
Finally, do not forget to have a part of your team do some proof reading of your work. Quality assurance is an integral part in printing and you do not want any mistakes being mass produced in printing catalogs. So have your designs checked always and make this one of the last primary steps to focus on.

Those are the major areas that you need most of your attention on in catalog printing. By focusing on these areas, you should have fewer troubles with your catalogs, and have a fun time making them.

This is the second part of your learning to get rid of irritating online customers.

5 more features to discreetly tell your readers to go away and leave you in penniless peace.

1. Link Farm Pages.

Links here, links there, links everywhere. A link farm!

Nothing wrong with link farms though. The problem is your website is NOT a link farm. It is a business website, remember? Hyper linking every word or phrase and in every part of your website is a sure turn off for customers.

Having pages loaded with links is like taking your customers on a roller coaster ride. They are taken up and down, sideways and everywhere they do not want to be. Minutes later, head buzzing and stomach on overdrive, they will still go back to where they started.

2. Button Animation Steven Spielberg-Style.

Special animated buttons, anyone? Hmm…Where is everyone?

You thought you caught their attention huh? Yeah, like for a second! Now they are gone looking your competitors over. If your customers are children, they might have enjoyed your animations. But, reality check, they are not.

If you want to win the Oscar for best animation, they by all means, have lots of animations. But animations on business websites only make it appear unprofessional and a sight for sore eyed readers.

3. Javascript Dramatic Entrance.

Customer innocently opening your site. Then wham! The page just went into full screen! Gasp for air! Choke! Then customer disappearing act.

Not the reaction you wanted? Do you really expect them to stare dumbfounded, open-mouthed and amazed? Better luck next website.

Javascript can crash a computer because it is too big an image to handle. Plus, customers are not blind. Give a little respect and do not treat them like one.

4. Registration Before Information.

Simply put, the catch before the intro. Seriously?

Make people register before they get into your business intro is the internet’s worst stunt. There is a 99% chance that people will not register. Unless you are a famous figure or people have heard positive things about your website.

Do not take the risk of asking for registration. People do not have time for this. And you are not really in the Forbes’ list of top 100 business blah blahs.

5. Elementary, My Dear.

Words worthy of Webster’s Dictionary. Terms that seem straight out of Wikipedia. Means to impress. Means to make your readers feel they are out of your league.

That’s right. Make people feel like they are not as smart as you are. Rub it in that they do not share your IQ level. The perfect strategy to drive them away feeling rotten.

Ever heard of Laymen’s term? Have you also heard that a degree is not required to get access to the Internet? Now you know.

Because unlike typical business owners, you do not want your business to succeed. You do not want to earn profits. You just want to get rid of your customers and be done with it. These features, like the first part, are the answer to your wishes.

How Custom Booklet Typography Works

While books usually force you to limit your typography choices, the guidelines for custom booklet printing on the other hand can be a bit more lenient. Sometimes, when you print booklets, you can even be as casual and creative as you want especially with public relations booklets, and promotional materials like program booklets and catalogs. So to help you out in getting creative and correct with your custom booklet printing typography, below are a few basic concepts that you should know.

The font style: The basics of typography all boil down to the fundamental concept of the font style. The font style or “font” can basically be described as a theme or set of design styles for a whole set of characters like the alphabet. You might be familiar with common fonts like the “times new roman” font or even the “Arial” font. Both fonts are distinct font styles for the character set of the alphabet. Each character may have a slightly different look for each font style, but basically they are still the same character.

Now, the important thing that you should know in font styles is that you can use more styles than the ones that are available in your chosen desktop publishing application. You can just download a custom font style over the Internet and install it in your computer. Font files are usually saved with the extension .ttf or a True Text Font file. You just put this file in your application’s font folder to make it work in your document and hence the design for your booklet as well.

The typeface: Now, besides the font style, you should also know about the type face. All font styles can be set to be displayed into a certain typeface. Typefaces are the options for text marked as “bold”, “italic” and “underlined”. In booklet printing and indeed in most other printed work, different typefaces are used in different situations. For example, bold text is usually used for emphasis in headlines, titles and important words. Italics on the other hand are used to denote text quotations, translations and foreign words. Underlines of course are used to add a measure of focus onto words or phrases so that people know that they are an important term. You should typically use some or even all types of typefaces for most of your color booklet content and design.

Font color and size: Lastly, you should also know that most text in your booklet design can be set to have a certain color and font size. You do not have to be strict about the recommended size and color when you print booklets. As long as it looks aesthetically pleasing and it accomplishes your goals, you can set your text to adopt any kind of font color you like and in any size. For program booklets for example, you can always use the theme colors for the booklet so that your text can look more integrated artistically with the show or event. You can use large font sizes to emphasize the titles and major sections while you can use smaller standard sizes for the bulk of the text. If you customize your font size and font color well, you should have a very interesting and eye catching layout for booklet printing.

That should give you a good overview of how typography works and its various options for booklet printing. While typography may sound very mundane, it is still a vital aspect for any booklet and you should consider it with care and focused attention just like the cover of the booklet.

When you are new to newsletter printing, one of the first questions that may have come into your mind is what software to use. With all the new types of applications out there, newsletter printing seems not as simple as most people once thought it to be. Do not fret however, since this article will guide you on the best and not so best applications that you can use when you print newsletters. With a little luck, this should aid you in getting started in printing your color newsletters.

Common word processing software: Good
The easiest, simplest and most convenient application that you can use for newsletter printing are word processing applications. While they are usually not typically tasked or designed for newsletter printing, most word processing applications have built in features which can make it easier for people to create newsletters in them. Since most people are already familiar with using these applications, the learning curve is not very steep and most of you should have no trouble in shifting from printing typical paper work towards newsletters. If you are basically a raw recruit in newsletter printing, you may want to start using this type of software first. Microsoft Word is a good example of a word processing application that you can use.

Professional Publishing tools: Best
Now, the best and most appropriate software that you can use for newsletter printing are the professional publishing tools. These kinds of tools are typically suited to the demands of printing. They usually have pre-set options and specifically designed features for the production of books, newspapers, magazines and of course newsletters as well. They typically have excellent abilities in image and text manipulation that are crucial in designing newsletters fast. Common examples of these tools include Microsoft Publisher and Adobe page maker. If you have a little bit more money in spending for the software and you want a truly easy time in designing your newsletter, these applications are the options that you can choose.

Design applications: Fair
Finally we have design applications or graphic editing software. While you can use these types of applications in a myriad of ways, using them for newsletter printing is fair at best. You can still of course form columns, add images and set your margins, but it will all eventually get saved in an image format. This is very ineffective in terms of newsletter printing since images are harder to edit than text. So use design applications only if you really want to customize the look and feel of your newsletters to exacting detail. Otherwise, you may be better off using the other applications suggested above.

Hopefully that enlightens you on the proper applications that you can use for newsletter printing. It is not as hard as it sounds. As long as you are aware of your abilities and limitations you should have no problems in picking the right software for your newsletter printing.

“Writer’s block” is for writers.

“Product block” is for marketers who have brilliant ideas for creating and marketing a product but cannot seem to get past that invisible blockage. This is basically you caught up in the haze of swirling ideas, multiple plans and big dreams of online business riches.

If you are a writer, the best advice would be to just go out there and have that R&R time in order to refresh your mind. But you are not a writer, you are a marketer. How then can you get past that voluminous “product block”?

Below are some product block advices that can help clear your troubled marketer mind.

Product Block Advice 1: Market on a wider range.

Having a niche market is essential for any online business. This does not mean that you cannot cross-promote your product to related niche markets. There is a big possibility that the market in close range to you will have a need for your product too.

When you choose a product, think of one that will also be beneficial outside the market you are moving into. There is a varied business world out there. What are the chances that your product can provide more out of your niche? A big chance.

Product Block Advice 2: It is all in the packaging.

Pretty ribbons and papers make gifts even more pleasing to the eye. Your product should embrace the same concept. The way you present your product will make a big impact on your potential customers.

The online marketing world is a highly competitive business. Come up with an eye-popping presentation for your product so you can be a step ahead of your competitors. Uniqueness can always create a splash. Innovation can also create a big wave. Use your imagination.

Product Block Advice 3: Start small.

Initial product creation will not land you your own reality show. Not will it get you to The Oprah Show. That is not how it works. Remember that “rags to riches” principle? Everyone has to start somewhere and that somewhere is not instantly big time.

Create a simple product. It does not have to be thousands of dollars worth. A dollar or less will give you lots of dollars in the long run. Set your aim right by not going for the higher target. Work your way up from the lower market going up to the bigger field.

Product Block Advice 4: No product is perfect.

The sooner you can accept that your product is not perfect, the better it will be for you and your business. Even high end products are not perfect. There will always be some downsides no matter how hard you try to polish your product.

Think of your product as an answer to what people needs. That answer does not always have to be perfect. You can provide the solution but you cannot please everyone. On the same note, mistakes you will encounter will help you enhance your product. It will also be the learning experience you need in order to be close to being perfect.

Product block should not stop your business from going everywhere you want it to be. Four sound advices to help you break through the greatest hindrance in product creation.
