I  have played most casino games and by far the game I love the most is roulette. I’ve played it in Vegas, in my home town, on cruise ships, on numerous Caribbean islands, in Europe, and online.

There are just so many options when it comes to placing your bets on roulette. You can bet on red or black or odd and even.

You can bet the first 12 numbers, the middle 12 numbers, or the last 12 numbers.

You can also bet on the 12 numbers in the inside column, middle column, or the outside column. Both these plays pay 2 to 1.

If you place your money on the intersection where four numbers meet you win if the ball lands on any of the numbers. You can also play two numbers at a time or put your money right on the ‘nose.’ that’s your biggest payout and will give you $35 for every dollar you bet. I was on one cruise ship and watched a woman win over $1000 in less than an hour. It was really exciting when the ball landed in one of the numbers she was playing, because she was playing 4 $5 chips per number, and her payout was $140 every time she hit. Talk about exciting!

It seemed like every third or fourth spin she was getting one of her numbers.

In all, there are 18 black numbers and 18 red numbers for a total of 36 numbers. Half are even numbers and half are odd. There is also a green 0 and 00 that are in play, and in total that makes a total of 38 possible slots for the small white ball to nestle in.

The roulette wheel is spun in one direction, and the ball is set on a path in the opposite direction. Bets can still be made at this time until the dealer announces “no more bets!” At that time the ball is really starting to bounce around and that’s when it gets really exciting. Especially if you have a full table and chips are spread everywhere. It’s possible to have many winners who are playing the same number.

My favorite play was betting nose bets on the 0 and the two numbers to it’s right and left, and the 00 with the two numbers on it’s right and left. So actually I was covering opposite ends of the wheel, and the 0 and 00 are opposite to each other. So I was playing 10 of the 38 possibilities on every spin. So I had a better than 25% chance of winning. It’s smart to be able to buy sufficient chips so you can keep playing your numbers in case you don’t win for a few spins. Eventually, your numbers will come up if you have the patience to hang in there.

Then I had those days when one of my numbers came up 4 or 5 spins in a row. Now, that was exciting!

The times that I was able to get ahead by $200 or so, I played a different system.

I would buy 155 worth of $5 chips.

I would play the first set of 12 numbers “every” spin. So I was putting my money down on the numbers 1 to 12. If the ball landed in any of those 12 numbers, I would win two chips for every one that I bet. So if I bet $5, and one of my numbers hit, I would win $15.

If I lost on the first spin, I would bet $10 on the next one, then $20, then $40, and finally, $80. The worst case scenario is that you lose 5 spins in a row. However, that seldom happens.

I really like this method because you get to play for a long time, because often you lose a few spins and then win a few. The secret is to always go back to $5 every time you win. Set up your 5 stacks again with the amounts you started with and anything left over is your winnings. Keep playing that way, and keep putting your winnings aside every time you have over the $155 you started with.

If you happen to lose 5 spins in a row, then walk away from the table, pick up your winnings and go have something to eat or drink and try again later. Chances are, you can play for a long time without losing a lot of money, and better yet, you have a good chance to come out ahead.

You can play the very same method using $1 chips. So your bets would be $1, $2, $4,$8, and $16. If you lose 5 spins in a row, you lose much less, but on the other hand you win less, but it’s a great way to have fun and meet people. If you like to play in private, then online roulette is a great option. You can play exactly the same system I mentioned as the pay-outs are the same as a casino in Vegas or on a cruise ship.

For some reason, roulette attracts some of the prettiest girls. And it’s amazing how exiting they get when they win. It’s a lot of fun, especially when the ball lands on their number.

Usually the lowest denomination chip you can buy is $1, and normally there is a low minimum amount you have to play per spin.

I can remember going on a cruise once and for an hour every night they had 50 cent roulette. What a riot that was! Everybody had a good laugh. You could put 5 chips on one number and it only cost you $2.50. Then when you won, you got this HUGE pile of chips. I can remember every single number being covered by chips. So you were guaranteed that someone was going to win on that spin.

During that hour, they  used to have three people working the table to pay off bets and re-stack the chips. It was almost impossible to get a spot at the table during that hour once the action started. I used to turn up a half hour early and make sure I had my favorite spot all staked out.

If you like playing on your own and in the privacy of your own home, then playing online is a great option.

If you like to be right out in the thick of things then most likely there is a casino near you that will supply the action. If not, there are dozens of holiday possibilities that offer great gaming opportunities.

Regardless of where you play, roulette is guaranteed to supply you with hours of great fun and excitement, and not only that, you have a good chance of coming out ahead of the game if you play a smart system.
