In early period a house is a place to take shelter, but at the present it is extensively defined. Each house is built distinctively as it tradition, culture and geographical condition yet the dweller necessitates.

Generally a house is divided into several rooms such as living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. In each region it will be different in view of the fact that in each region has different culture. Some of it may have guest room and living room in the same area. For instance living room which adapted from par lour or parlor, from the French word parler (to speak), in the late of 19th it is a formal room used on Sunday or special occasion where in large house or mansion. Parlor is usually where the recently deceased were laid out before their funeral. Nowadays in living room there are chair or sofa, table, TV furniture yet some people put a bookshelf and artwork or painting. Different from living room in common Asian house as their habit which is prefer to sitting on the floor or using mat. Japanese living room has tatami, instead of chairs or sofa. In Indonesia there is also a traditional mat known as tikar which made from natural material or plastic.

But now less people have its habit, they prefer use chairs or sofa and other furniture for their living room. Such as furniture, which had mentioned before, become commonly used in every living room. Although various shape and designs of indoor furniture are offered and available in store, people still choose wood furniture rather than other material. Thus indoor wood furniture is still in high demand.
