5 Ideas for Marketing Your Small Business
Small businesses often have pretty limited budgets and marketing on a low budget can be a challenge. That doesn´t mean it´s impossible though! Here are 5 great budget ideas to market your small business.
Website. Having a website is probably the easiest way to promote your business. You automatically get worldwide coverage just by being online and this will give you a huge leg up on the competition. Learn a little about search engines and make your site even better, to bring in free traffic from the search engines. A domain name and hosting should cost less than $100 a year, so it´s quite affordable.
Postcards. Print up your own custom postcards and slip them into the local newspaper. This can be a good way for local businesses to reach their audience for a fairly low fee, prices vary depending on the newspaper and distribution numbers.
Give a talk. There are usually plenty of groups looking for speakers and they may even pay you to talk to their club or group as an expert in your field. That´s a great deal and it also allows you to really get established as an expert . . . which means people will head your way the next time they have a question or need your product. Remember to hand out business cards after your talk.
Volunteer. This is a great way to give back to the community and to also promote your business. If you have employees, make sure they wear company shirts and then have them all participate at a volunteer function. It´s quite likely the press will want to cover a story like this.
Press releases. Speaking of press, don´t forget press releases, another excellent method of marketing your business. Press releases are completely free if you are able to write them yourself. It´s actually a good idea to learn to write press releases on your own, since they can be such an excellent method of publicity.
Marketing your small business really doesn´t have to cost a fortune. Not every advertising avenue will be open to you, but that doesn´t mean you have to sit back and wait for your business to grow. You can start using the low budget ideas given above to promote your small business and get it off the ground. You might be surprised at how effective free techniques can be!
