A lot of my women friends ask me why guys dump girls.  I decided that this was actually quite an interesting issue.  You’ll hear other girls grumble quite often about all the reasons why they suddenly end up single.  But I made up my mind to drill down just a little further and get the answer straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.  I went and asked Brian, one of my especially close male friends, who I can trust to be extremely frank with me.

Allow me to share his main 3 motives why men dump women.  I believe you’ll find these very fascinating.

You Are Too Needy — Brian explained that a number of the women he has dated are just too needy.  They can’t stand being away from their boyfriend for even a split second.  They want to go grocery shopping with him, go to the ATM with him, and go to the laundromat with him.  It seems like they never give him a moment of free time.  Brian claims that one of the main reasons why men breakup with girls is because we don’t give our boyfriends the right amount of space.

It is important to understand that when a man says he needs “space,” he means something completely different than when a girl says she wants space.  Guys are extremely career- and goal-oriented and every so often need time alone or with their guy friends to get things done.  If you think back to prehistoric times, this is quite like him going out to hunt for food.  Guys just have a natural need to sometimes be by themselves or with other guys, so don’t be clingy and give him the room he needs every now and then.  It seriously isn’t something to worry about, and you’ll see that he comes back to you afterward feeling recharged and excited to be with you.

The Man Is Not As Committed As You — Us women commonly find ourselves thinking about walking down the wedding aisle and coming up with the names of our 2.5 kids significantly earlier than men.  Another one of Brian’s explanations why guys dump girls is that they hurry into bringing up these things with their boyfriends too early. When you do this, you might possibly chase him off.  Is he just simply immature and fearful of commitment?  Could be.  But more likely he just doesn’t think that your relationship has a strong enough foundation to warrant going to “that level” just yet.  When do you bring it up then?  This really depends on the relationship and what the two of you have been through together.

You Don’t Have Your Own Dreams — If every little thing in your life revolves around your man, then you will almost certainly see him rapidly losing fascination with you.  Brian told me about a somewhat creepy ordeal he had with one of his ex-girlfriends.  She explained to him about a dream she had and said, “I dreamed that both of us merged together into one human being and I never had to do anything or think for myself again.  It was great.”  No big surprise they’re no longer together any more.

This is a severe example, but seriously ladies, guys still prefer us to be independent and unique.  You are really going to bore your guy into dumping you if all you do is go shopping at Walmart and watch TV.  Men like girls that have their own purpose and aspirations.  Work for that promotion at the office.  Finish that novel you have always wanted to write.  Pull out those paint brushes and create your new work of art.  Don’t merely sit there and let your mind waste away.

So I hope you have a greater understanding at this point about why men dump women.  Perhaps you can also see a few mistakes you have made prior till now.  The point is to learn your lesson and improve so that you don’t repeat the past in your future relationships.  By changing even something little, you can discover that your ex-boyfriend may suddenly be interested in you again too.
